Wake Me
WAKE ME
Noah benShea
Do not come to tell me of the long sleep ahead
Come instead to wake me
And make me see the moon
Do not come to tell me the hour’s growing late
Come instead to shake me
And remind me light is on the lake
Do not come to tell me I must be cautious in my ways
Come instead and promise if I live a life that’s bold
What grows will not grow old
Do not come to tell me this life’s a slender thread
Come instead to compass me
That there is a road ahead
Do not come to tell me the worries I should fear
Come instead to sing to me
Songs of faith I wait to hear
Do not come to tell me memories of who is gone
Come instead to tell me
All passes; nothing’s gone
Do not come to tell me life is sad
Come instead to laugh with me
And offer oath
That health alone is reason to be glad
Do not come to tell me of the long sleep ahead
Come instead to wake me
Come instead to teach me
Come instead so I will know
The here and now is now and here
And those are blessed
Who in your Grace
Make rest
From their fear.
